You'll
find lots of interesting things to do around our area.
If you do prefer to get out and see the sites, a short scenic
drive will find you in various historic Texas communities
and a myriad of opportunities for enjoyment.
In
nearby Brenham, a favorite is a tour of Blue Bell Creameries,
or you can bicycle or drive from Lillian Farms with a picnic
lunch to
Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park to learn more about the
birth of Texas.
The Monastery of St. Clare Miniature Horse Farm, operated
by a group of Franciscan Nuns, is a definite must-see attraction,
or you could just shop the day away looking for antique treasures
in any number of our nearby towns. And don't forget to book
early for the Round Top Antiques Show, one of the nation's
largest antiquing events held the first weekends in April & October.
Many other local festivals include The Washington County Fair
(the oldest in Texas), The Bluebonnet Festival, The Cotton
Gin Festival, and The Scarecrow Festival. For music lovers,
the International Festival-Institute at Round Top is nearby
for orchestra and chamber music. And dining in the area will
surely be a treat as restaurants of all types of cuisine are
numerous.
